on fleeing the left coast…

…well it’s official – we are for sure, really, actually and for real this time moving to south florida. this is not another false start. we are quitting our jobs. we bought a business.

it’s a decision that was many years in the making and was made easier by the year as california continues to do everything it can to fiscally enslave and abuse the middle class and turn our state into a 3rd world country in which tuberculosis, typhus and yersinia pestis is making a comeback our economic, political and social prospects seemed to shift geographically.

why florida? that’s easy. while we wanted to be in a saner and less punishing financial environment we didn’t want to give up the varied and diverse cultural climate. or fun, social wackiness. or the ocean. or the freedom from snow. or avocados.

so it was either texas or florida and there are too many goddamned californians turning texas into the next state to sell “i hate californians” t-shirts. so florida it was.

really at this point the only thing we’re really losing is the best mexican food in the u.s. but i’m pretty sure that 13% raise we’re giving ourselves by leaving california can comfort us through our transition to being rabid fans of cubano cuisine.

and while This Current Bullshit involving COVID has created a challenging situation in which to do the house-selling and the house-buying and the packing and the cleaning-out-of-stuff and the driving a giant dog, two cats and a betta fish 3,000 miles and the getting ourselves trained up to make money with Our New Big Thing it’s also not so preventing us from actually doing it.

i’m going to convert my husband to #afloridaman.

greetings-florida
