as of yesterday…

…my husband and i are officially business owners and have ten employees which is terrifying. for them, not me. never have i been aware of a group of people in such unqualified hands who are completely unaware of the horrors about to be visited upon them.

we have taken over (on paper) a commercial kitchen and restroom sanitization business in west palm beach, florida. we will take over the business physically whenever we are able to get a go-date after This Current Bullshit is resolved.  probably sometime in late may or early june.

i’ve done freelance writing and photography when the economy was shit and jobs were scarce. i’ve been a mortician. i’ve been an admin assistant. a cocktail waitress. a regular waitress. in high school i’ve been inside the rat costume at chuck e cheese. had a paper route, babysat kids, did agricultural work harvesting berries and walnuts, picked grapes, been under houses, washed cars and did just about anything that kept me off the public dole since i got my first job at 15 years old but never have i done work as un-sexy as commercial kitchen and bathroom sanitization. so this’ll be interesting and by interesting i mean “at least it’s revenue has doubled in the time between we made our (accepted) offer and now”.

i’m not proud.

or disinterested in something that’s producing scads of cash.

so it’s all house-hunting right now and i am shocked. shocked! at how quickly our budget went from what we can pay cash on using the equity in our home to $750 thousand dollars because we can actually get a gorgeous house on the water in florida for under five gazillion dollars which is as good a reason to flee the left coast as any.

who has two thumbs and is about to go in hoc for something vulnerable to hurricane damage and storm surge? this chick.

anyway. das ist alles für jetzt.

p.s. – this beach is just north of the house we’re putting an offer in on. hang on toto, we’re not in norcal anymore!
